One more year: XVIII ACAVe forum.

On September 27, Beroni Informática attended the 18th ACAVe Forum, a must-attend event for the tourism sector, featuring top-tier speakers and addressing current topics of interest to the travel agency and tourism industry.

This year, under the theme “Moving Toward the Future”—and as is customary at Barcelona’s iconic Liceu—the conference addressed important topics such as sustainability and mobility in cities and tourist destinations, as well as current and future tourist behavior.

The event began with opening remarks by Martí Sarrate, the current president of ACAVE. Isabel Oliver, Secretary of State for Tourism, officially opened the event.

Next, Dr. Nuria Galí, a professor and researcher at the University of Girona, spoke to us about the management and promotion of sustainability in tourist cities, the different phases of tourism within a society, and the effects of these phases in the highly globalized and ever-changing world in which we live. Following this, Núria Galí, Frans van der Avert, current CEO of Amsterdam Marketing, Joan Torrella, General Director of Barcelona Turisme, and Mara Manente, a tourism expert from the University of Ca’ Foscari in Venice, participated in the discussion.

After the coffee break, under the theme “Moving Toward the Future,” the discussion focused on the challenges facing the tourism market. Participants in the debate included Javier Bellido, Director of eDreams ODIGEO; Fernando Cuesta, Managing Director of AMADEUS Spain and Portugal; and our client Jordi Vendrell, Manager of Tuareg Viatges.

The third and final session of the forum was presented by Antón Costas, Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Barcelona and President of the Círculo de Economía Foundation. His presentation was incredibly interesting, as he shared his perspective on how tourism entrepreneurs are facing new social and economic challenges. With his straightforwardness and communication skills, he gave us a master class on the main challenges facing the tourism industry in the future. It was a privilege to learn from such a master!

It should also be noted that, once again this year, Josep Cuní moderated the discussion and introduced all the participants in the event with his characteristic eloquence.

The forum was concluded by Ada Colau, the mayor of Barcelona. It is always interesting to hear from someone who represents a major city like Barcelona.

Thank you, ACAVe, for inviting us to your 18th forum, an essential event for hearing the views of key players in our industry.
