Thoughts from Our CEO: Key Aspects of Spanish Tourism

As we promised on our social media channels, today we’re sharing on this channel the interview 🎥 with our CEO, Josep Bellés, following the presentation of the 15th ObservaTUR Report (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWG55owGfvk)

According to our CEO, the latest edition of this report presents some remarkable data, confirming the strength 💪 of domestic outbound tourism for yet another year, with decidedly optimistic forecasts pointing to a successful summer.

In this interview, Bellés also highlights three additional aspects covered in the study:

1️⃣ First, the excitement travelers feel about their vacations and their desire to relax and enjoy themselves, which, he says, will continue to be the main “driving force” not only for tourism but also for the national economy.

2️⃣ Second, the full return to normalcy for domestic travelers and how their travel patterns—such as travel companions, preferred months, and destinations—are taking shape; under normal circumstances, these patterns tend to repeat themselves.

3️⃣ And finally, the emergence of new trends, such as booking trips further in advance, the desire to explore new destinations, and the increase in international travel.

From a technological perspective📡, Josep Bellés also highlights other aspects of the report that caught his attention, particularly the fact that travel agencies and travelers have now fully embraced the importance of digitalization when it comes to travel.

According to Bellés, this digitalization is reflected in three specific cases.

➡️ A leader in managing passenger flows, an area that is becoming increasingly important in helping to alleviate overcrowding at destinations.

➡️ Second, because of the growing importance of artificial intelligence among both travelers and travel agencies.

➡️ And third, how data management provides valuable insights into customers and their habits, particularly when it comes to tailoring travel experiences to be as personalized as possible.

For all these reasons, Bellés states, “I would go so far as to say that this 15th report is an indispensable resource for understanding the tourism sector.”
