Beroni develops the first AI designed to assist travel agents

Beroni, a company specializing in innovation for the tourism and travel industry, has served as the technology partner responsible for developing the first AI-powered virtual assistant designed specifically for travel agents—in this case, exclusively for the tour operator Taiko, part of the PRESSTOUR Group, a leading national player in the tourism sector.

This project is available exclusively through the B2B channel and enables users to generate automatic quotes—calculated in real time—for products offered by the León-based operator, make reservations and bookings, and view all the destinations featured in the Taiko catalog.

The AI assistant, called EugynIA, monitors the agency professional’s workflow at all times and, when appropriate, identifies and alerts them to the most affordable prices that may become available during the travel booking process—whether for accommodations or the trip itself—always ensuring that these options align with the dates selected by the client.

It can also identify the user’s usage patterns and level of technical proficiency, and tailor the content to their current knowledge level, whether they are a beginner or more advanced. In this regard, if the AI detects unusual use of the tool, it provides the user with all available options, as well as practical recommendations and support materials, which may include videos, tips, or tutorials.

If necessary, it can even suggest alternative destinations that might also interest travelers, within the parameters of their selection, as it provides access to all the products available on the website. The new AI is capable of determining how much the travel agent uses the system and offering them additional content.

In addition, the AI developed by Beroni for Taiko can automatically generate offers with better prices through its engine and send them via email—a feature that is particularly useful for users who are interacting with the platform for the first time or do so infrequently.

The new AI-powered virtual assistant for travel agents is in the advanced stages of development and will be fully operational soon.

The project was carried out under the 2023 call for grants for "last-mile" digitization projects in tourism sector companies, as part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan launched by the Spanish government.

According to Iki Fernández, CEO of TAIKO, “this new virtual travel advisor, developed by Beroni for TAIKO, fits perfectly with our philosophy. EugynIA will enhance the interaction between our team and our clients, making access to our company’s information smoother and more efficient than ever. Her presence will not replace, but rather complement, our team and our usual channels of communication, which will now be reinforced with an additional layer of support designed to enhance the travel agencies’ experience.”

According to Josep Bellés, CEO of Beroni, “until now, the norm has been to develop AI virtual assistants with a focus solely on the travel experience; the technology developed by Beroni, however, places the travel agent at the center of operations and gives them the leading role. It is the first AI designed to truly assist travel agents, not to replace them.”
