Beroni renews its agreement with DIT Gestión, making progress in the digital transformation of its Haiku platform

DIT Gestión, one of Spain’s leading groups, and Beroni, a company specializing in technology services and R&D for the tourism and travel industry, have renewed their strategic partnership agreement, under which the technology firm will continue to provide and tailor its digital solutions for the group’s wholesale division, which sells to more than a thousand independent travel agencies that together employ 2,800 workers.

The agreement will enable progress in the automation processes of the various companies within the group and the adoption of the module developed by Beroni to implement the BAI Ticket (TBAI), the joint project of the three Provincial Tax Authorities and the Basque Government under which all individuals and legal entities engaged in economic activity must use invoicing software that meets a series of requirements. The TBAI went into effect in Álava on the 1st and will become mandatory as of March 1, 2023, for companies in Gipuzkoa.

DIT Gestión has been the firm in this province responsible for testing the software developed by Beroni to ensure it complies with the guidelines set by the Basque Country’s tax authorities, and it is part of a pilot program designed by the technology company in this region, just as the agency Korkula Tours was in Álava.

Currently, DIT Gestión brings together five companies under its brand: Donostirec (a wholesale agency that works with agents without their own licenses or freelancers), Haiku Vuelos (airline consolidator), Haiku Lance, DIT Canarias, and Arriaga Viagens in Portugal. The group, which employs 42 people, is chaired by Jon Arriaga. The parent company of DIT Gestión offers its partners, among other services, legal and administrative advice, marketing, and training content.

Arriaga, in fact, commented on the renewal of the agreement as follows: “For DIT Gestión, renewing our partnership agreement with Beroni is excellent news, because it will allow us to continue making progress in improving our procedures and further enhancing our digitalization and automation for our tour operators. This is especially true given that, starting March 1, 2023, we will need to adapt to the changes brought about by the adoption of the BAI Ticket.”

Josep Bellés, CEO of Beroni, notes that “working with one of the leading national travel management groups, which serves more than a thousand travel agencies, is always a challenge that pushes us to constantly improve our work and our technology in order to meet its high standards and provide an effective and rapid response to the needs of its clients.”

What is TicketBAI (TBAI)?

This system applies to all individuals, legal entities, and unincorporated entities engaged in economic activities that fall under the regulatory jurisdiction of the Basque Regional Tax Authorities with respect to individual income tax or corporate income tax, in accordance with the provisions of the Economic Agreement with the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, approved by Law 12/2002 of May 23.

TBAI has two main objectives: to assist taxpayers in fulfilling their tax obligations and to prevent tax fraud, with the aim of ensuring that everyone contributes to the funding of public expenditures in accordance with their financial capacity.

According to official sources, this new system essentially enables a chain of invoices, which are also electronically signed, thereby preventing their tampering or deletion. This ensures the authenticity, integrity, traceability, and inviolability of the electronic records.

In short, this ensures that invoices cannot be altered or deleted once they have been issued via various devices, such as point-of-sale terminals (POS), personal computers, vending machines, advanced scales, tablets, or mobile phones. The records must be submitted to the relevant regional tax authorities in accordance with the procedures and deadlines established by each authority.

The program also allows you to generate invoices with all the necessary information and includes two new fields, which simply display the invoice data in a different format: a TBAI identification code and a QR code.

TicketBAI (TBAI) is in line with the recommendations of leading international organizations, such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the European Commission, and draws on the experience of other countries in our region that have undertaken similar projects.
