Beroni has participated in the audit process for the renewal of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya’s (UOC) TedQual certification, an accreditation it first obtained in 2015 thanks to its bachelor’s degree in Tourism and its master’s degree in Strategies and Sustainable Management of Tourist Destinations.
The UOC was the first online university in the world to receive this certification, the only international seal of quality in education and training awarded by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Neus Profitós, in her capacity as deputy director of Beroni and adjunct professor at the UOC—specifically for the undergraduate and master’s programs—has been responsible for collaborating on this initiative. In addition, our company has implemented the wasabi-s.edu platform in the Tourism Studies program for both undergraduate and master’s-level courses.
These types of initiatives are in line with Beroni’s Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan and, as Neus puts it, “it is a source of pride for us as a company that the UOC has relied on our participation and support to obtain such a prestigious international certification in tourism education.”
A highly prestigious award
TedQual is the only international certification in the field of education and training awarded by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), a specialized agency of the United Nations. It is a highly prestigious accreditation in the educational world, which is why many universities strive to obtain it.
The audit conducted to grant TedQual accreditation evaluates aspects such as the coherence of the curriculum, the program’s content, the infrastructure and educational support equipment, policies and tools for administrative management, the existence of transparent mechanisms for faculty selection, and so on.
Neus Profitós, as deputy director of Beroni and adjunct professor at the UOC, was responsible for collaborating on this project.
