Beroni, a company specializing in technology services and R&D for the tourism and travel industry, has already rolled out a new technology solution to help travel agencies in the Basque Country smoothly adapt to TicketBAI, in accordance with the timeline set by the region’s tax authorities.
TicketBAI is the name of the joint project of the three Provincial Treasuries and the Basque Government, under which all individuals and legal entities engaged in economic activity must use invoicing software that meets a series of requirements.
The new application is the result of many months of work, and a few days ago, the Lleida-based technology company—which specializes in technology for travel agencies—launched a pilot program to test the new product, which was developed by its R&D Department in accordance with the specifications established by the technical services of this new system.
Initially, a select group of travel agencies in the region will participate in this program, testing the software designed to comply with the guidelines imposed by the Basque Country’s tax authorities.
The technology company, which specializes in the travel agency sector, has been designing this product since 2019, investing over 1,000 hours of work in its development. The creation of tutorial videos and user guides is also planned. Additionally, a team from Beroni will provide ongoing support to users of the product, which is integrated into the Front-Office and Retailer management software.
Korkula Tours, the first Basque travel agency to implement Beroni’s Ticket BAI
The first Basque travel agency to adopt this module is Korkula Tours, based in Álava, which was the first of the Basque provinces where this new control system came into effect. Agencies in Bizkaia will follow, and finally those in Guipúzcoa, which will join the new system in 2024.
Korkula Tours is a company with 36 years of history, offering its services to both leisure and corporate clients. (www.korkulatours.es). It has been part of Beroni’s client portfolio since 1998.
Arantza González and Nekane Campos, co-owners of Korkula Tours: “Having Beroni on board during the implementation of the BAI Ticket has been a huge help, and it allows our agency, once again, to be at the forefront of technology use in our region. Technology that, moreover, in Beroni’s case—and ever since we began our collaboration in 1998—has always been a guarantee of success, which benefits the service we provide to our clients every day and its quality. Our commitment to our clients is reinforced once again today.”
According to Josep Bellés, CEO of Beroni, “Korkula Tours is a leader in the travel industry in its region, with an impeccable track record, having successfully adapted to the modern traveler and offering a high-quality, distinctive service in its area. It is also a company that has been committed to digitalization from the very beginning, and year after year has relied on Beroni to align its technological needs with our developments.”
What is TicketBAI (TBAI)
This is a system that will apply to all individuals, legal entities, and unincorporated entities engaged in economic activities and subject to the regulatory authority of the Basque Regional Tax Authorities regarding individual income tax or corporate income tax, in accordance with the provisions of the Economic Agreement with the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, approved by Law 12/2002 of May 23.
TBAI has two main objectives: to assist taxpayers in complying with their tax obligations and to prevent tax fraud, with the aim of ensuring that all individuals contribute to the financing of public expenditures in accordance with their economic capacity.
According to official sources, this new system essentially enables a chain of invoices, which are also signed electronically, preventing their manipulation or deletion. This ensures the authenticity, integrity, traceability, and inviolability of the electronic records.
In short, this ensures that invoices cannot be altered or deleted once they have been issued via various devices: point-of-sale terminals (POS),
personal computers, vending machines, advanced scales, tablets, or mobile phones. The records must be submitted to the relevant regional tax authorities in accordance with the format and deadlines established by each authority.
The program also allows users to generate invoices with all necessary data and
includes two new fields, which simply represent the invoice data in another format: a TBAI identification code and a QR code.
TicketBAI (TBAI) is aligned with the recommendations of major international organizations
such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the European Commission, and draws on the experience of other countries in our region that have undertaken similar projects.
